ELINORA INGA SIGURDARDOTTIR, FOUNDER AND CHAIRMAN OF KVENN ICELAND

Elinora Inga Sigurdardottir was presented with the GWIIN Founders Award in 2008 for her dedication and commitment to the empowerment and advancement of women inventors in Iceland. She is a business owner and and inventor with a mission to mentor and coach inventors and innovators. She was elected as Chairman of The Icelandic Inventors Association in 1998, the first woman in Europe to be in that position. Ninety percent of the members were men, so in 2007 she organized KVENN (Icelandic Women Inventors and Innovators Network), to reach out to more inventive women and to get them the respect and recognition they deserve from society. Apart from the capacity building services she provides within Iceland, Elinora provides lectures about innovation, networking and the importance of role models throughout the world.She extends this to also planning exhibitions and conferences for inventors, in cooperation with both men and women…….
MAILA HAKALA PRESIDENT OF QUIN SUOMI RY FINLAND
Maila Hakala was presented with the GWIIN Honorary Award in 2008 for her years of dedication and absolute commitment to the capacity building and advancement of women inventors in Finland. In the innovators´circles everyone knows Maila Hakala. The moderators in innovation events often introduce her as “Grand Old Young Lady of Inventors”. It has become like a title. This comes as no surprise as she has been actively promoting innovative activities since 1980. Her flying sentence is “you never know where you will find yourself on any day when dealing with inventors”.
